2010 RX Round-up
In response to the growing number of prescription drug abuse incidents,
the Kent County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the Kent
County Adolescent Substance Abuse Coalition and Kent County Behavorial
Health to provide community opportunities to properly dispose of all
medications that are no longer needed in the home. This includes unused
and/or expired Prescription medication, over-the-counter medications
and verterinary meds prescribed for animals.
The purpose of the round-ups is to reduce access to Kent County youth,
reduce opportunities for abuse, to reduce improper disposal, to keep
landfills and the water supply safe and to keep young children safe. Do
not flush medications.
Sheriff Deputies will be available at the following locations to
receive these drugs and properly dispose of them. Only a certified law
enforcement officer can receive drugs for disposal. Please, do not drop
off medications at the fire hall when a Sheriff’s Deputy is
not on site. You may, however, return drugs to the Sheriff’s
office during normal business hours (Monday – Friday between
8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.)
